Review of For Your Consideration (2006) by Ali S — 18 Aug 2008
I just wasn't feeling it, dawg! It simply didn't go far enough with the wacky. With a cast like that, I expected them to have a lot more fun.
It started out as quite clever but lost steam as it went along. While it starts out as a good satire, it starts to resemble that which it is funning less and less to the point where the vicitm of its mockery becomes indistinguishable. It's like the satire idea was a springboard for a whole other type of film. Problem is, I'm not sure what that type of film was or what is was trying to accomplish. In my mind, For Your Consideration feel short.
The only thing that stayed consistent and somewhat witty was the writers' of Home for Purim/Thanksgiving reactions as their film went down the drain. Maybe that's how Guest and Levy felt as they saw this film go down the same garden path.
