Review of For Your Consideration (2006) by J.b. R — 31 Dec 2011
Christopher Guest abandons his docu/mockumentary style in this film and replaces it with a similar minded narrative structure that still relies heavily on the actor's improvisation. While the premise is strong and the potential is huge, this film fails to ever get going and proves to be to large a topic (Hollywood) for Guest's focused story-telling.
Some pieces are great, particularly Catherine O'Hara's performance but overall the film falls flat and pales in comparison to the greatness of "Guffman", "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind".
