Review of For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) by Maiken L — 24 Feb 2008
The church versus homosexuality. I've always been intrigued by this debate because I don't understand how someone can be so selective as to use The Bible, namely the Leviticus Code, to denouce one thing and not another.
Everyone translates The Bible differently and I doubt they all take into account the cultural differences of biblical times and today. But this film isn't just about biblical misinterpretations...
it's about the strength of family. Each story deals with how a religious family copes with a homosexual son or daughter. I must say that religious fundamentalists scare me and I definitely see how one can compare this prejudice to what we've seen historically with Hitler and racism in the South.
This is an enlightening and moving film that I would love to share with some members of my family.
