Review of For All Mankind (1989) by Chris G — 27 Dec 2007
Apparently going through 80 hours worth of footage covering the Apollo space missions, director Al Reinert delivers a (somewhat) narratively driven recreation of man first landing on the moon in this amazing documentary.
Mixing in interviews from many astronauts as well as footage from random missions, Reinert creates an awe-inspiring film, thanks to the footage captured by the astronauts themselves, which is just incredible and up there with some of the best cinematography.
Would love to see it on the big screen, but for now Criterion's DVD (with some decent extras) will do.
