Review of For All Mankind (1989) by Tracey S — 22 Mar 2009
This documentary provided a behind-the-scenes look at the first NASA moon mission. It conveyed the apprehension and otherworldliness of the mission well. I saw it at its HD premiere at the Paramount Theater in Austin, found the footage very clear, and the sound good--especially those recordings from space! We often chuckled from the funny things said by the astronauts or engineers.
Images from this film will give you a new perspective of Earth, the moon, and the Sun, and you will leave astonished by humankind's great achievements and contemplative of the essence of life, the universe, space, and time.
Issues such as Earth's geopolitical conflicts, resource scarcity, hunger, poverty, etc... suddenly seem very trivial. The soundtrack by Brian Eno was very fitting, too.
