Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by Hereward P — 01 Mar 2009
More polished than Fistful of Dollars, tighter than The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Lee Van Cleef plays a badass without being a badguy. Clint is still a badass, though his character gets less screentime than in the first film.
The soundtrack is legendary, Sergio Leone's direction is astounding without feeling like it is trying too hard. Gian Maria Volonte is genuinely nasty as the villain, El Indio. Klaus Kinski pops up as a secondary character.
Not sure if it gets better than this.
