Review of Footsteps in the Fog (1955) by Simon T — 21 Sep 2017
Modestly well done 50s murder melodrama, shamelessly borrowing elements from superior classics like Gaslight, Rebecca and The Lodger, but with a psychologically implausible plot and rather overdone Benjamin Frankel score.
Stewart Granger is very good as the dastardly villain, his (real) wife Jean Simmons does what she can as his housekeeper, Bill Travers is characteristically clunky as Granger's love rival.
