Review of Footloose (1984) by Michael H — 13 Jun 2013
Naive1980-s movie about dance. The simple and light message of the movie is the easing contradiction between Christian morality and disco culture. A dancer comes to a suburban town where every hint to freedom or self-expression is suppresseded by an authoritarian reverend, a father of a beautiful and uncontrollable girl.
The boy and the girl fall in love and manage to change the town into a lively and animated place full of joy, love and dancing, notably, with the blessing of the girl's father. Enjoyable music, wonderful dances and the attractive figures of the rebelling teenagers are in the focus of the movie.
The more time goes by after the stupid but lovely disco era, the more appealing the film appears to me. The soundtrack is worth every acclaim.
