Review of Footloose (1984) by Baurushan J — 27 Jan 2014
The story is about an unruly teenager named Ren McCormack played by Kevin Bacon who enters a small village where dancing is banned by the reverend Shaw Moore played by John Lithgow. Ren finds out a history realising that a few years ago, someone had an accident in a car crash and died after a night out.
But he tries to tell the towns people to get over it now and ignore the "no-dancing" law. Once they start burning books thinking it is bad for their youth, Rev. Shaw realises the law has gone too far and gives up the law, just in time for Ren's high school senior prom.
I thought the story was creative, the setting was nice, it didn't drag on for too long as everything was timed and the casting of the classic stars especially Kevin Bacon just stole the show. As for the remake, it was also good.
It was updated to be fresh and new whilst being faithful to the original source material. But no matter what, this movie was better. Footloose (1984) gets a 8.5/10.
