Review of Fool's Gold (2008) by Andy L — 23 Nov 2009
Fool's Gold is a adventure/romantic film that looks to bring a fun entertaining movie but has some pretty stupid acting and possibly a tired cast.
There is great chemistry between Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson but it looked too much like directors and the powers that be were trying to hang onto the success of 'How to lose a guy ...' it just doesn't really work for a second time because of the memories of that last movie. They are both similar characters from each movie which doesnt help either. With that said McConaughey and Hudson are the highest quality on this film, the supporting cast is horrible with bad one liners and over the top acting that really leaves a bad memories of this film. Unfortunately McConaughey and Hudson are not enough to save this film.
With beautiful wide shots of Sunny Queensland the directing is lost between a treasure hunt and a romance it is a confused movie with which avenue to take with neither storyline really taking a hold of this film, you tend to just slowly move through this film with no real thought.
At times it is entertaining, but it is a below average film with not much to offer, would still watch it with my wife but not really one my favourites list.
