Review of Fool's Gold (2008) by Alex R — 10 Nov 2011
Fool's Gold had the potential of being a good comedy film, but the problem with the film is that it's bloated with overused clichés from previous comedies, thus everything you'd expect that will happen, happens.
I thought that the film started off well enough to be a good, fun comedy film. However, halfway through the film, the film falls apart, and due to a somewhat lacking cast, the film doesn't deliver.
There's some good actors in this film, but they are miscast, and really don't cut in their respective parts. I think Fool's Gold fails at delivering anything good, and it's a shame because the film had the potential of being a good comedy.
Like I stated previously, Fool's Gold starts falling apart halfway through the film, thus the film ends up being mediocre. Although the film is not an awful piece of garbage, it does suffer from not being an effective comedy because of a dull script.
The film at times is funny, and amusing, but for the most part, it doesn't anything to really engage the viewer. Matthew McConaughey in my opinion should give up Rom-Coms. I think that he's a talented actor, but the fact that he keeps starring in boring, uninteresting romantic comedies is really sinking his career.
Fool's Gold is yet another example of a rom-com that has checkered his career. The film has its moments, but it never succeeds at being a good film.
