Review of Fool's Gold (2008) by Jarrett M — 31 Mar 2012
Fool's Gold is not a terribly great movie and it certainly isn't my kind of movie based on genre, but for some reason I really did enjoy this movie. A guilty pleasure, I guess. I think Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson have an exceptable amount of chemistry on screen, but I think the romance part of the romantic comedy here is the weakest element of the film.
The comedy isn't going to have you in stitches, but there were a few moments and sequences that I found amusing. I think I enjoyed this cause I'm a bit of a sucker for treasure hunting movies, and while this isn't exactly a good one, I found enough in it to like to keep me interested through the running time.
I can't really recommend this to anyone else as there are better films in the rom-com genre, but I also won't recommend people avoid this either. Watch at your own risk.
