A surprisingly slick (and undoubtedly well funded) little doc about the things we eat and how capitalism ruined all of them. Kudos to Food, Inc. for taking it back to the farmer, that industry created image of peace with the Earth that most people forget actually represents a shrinking and starving group of Americans we'd rather erase so we can eat hamburgers 3 meals a day.

The film would do better if it was less of a democrat; case in point, it's difficult to take its lessons about meat over consumption seriously when the film opens with Eric Schlosser eating a hamburger.

I don't mean to praise the film for its accessibility and simultaneously condemn it for its attempts at broad appeal; it's a better movie for leaving heavy handed ethics off the table and focusing on food economics.

It's just disheartening to see the experts shun their own research as they preach it.
