Review of Food, Inc. (2008) by Cody U — 18 Jun 2011
I finally got around to watching this extremely eye-opening documentary, and man am I glad I did. Watching this film gave me many of the same feelings I had when I watched Michael Moore's Sicko. It's really sort of terrifying, actually; some of the stuff this film focuses on.
The gigantic mega-farms we get our meat from are ingenious from a business aspect, but completely ghastly from a consumer health aspect. The same goes for us genetically modifying chickens to grow faster and larger, and numerous other things.
The fact that only 4 or so companies control 80% of all meat production in the U.S. is also quite terrifying, and the fact that we have found a way to put corn in just about everything is just as alarming.
There are a lot of weird and scary factoids in this film. It is definitely worth watching if you care at all about the food you eat.
