Review of Food, Inc. (2008) by Pedro H — 31 Aug 2011
A mixture of shocking, mildly shocking and not very shocking information, but information that everyone should be aware of nonetheless. The fact that none of the food producers featured in the film feel it necessary to answer any questions says volumes in itself.
The most shocking, and sadly most common, theme in this and other films about big business is that no one seems to take any personal responsibilty for anything other than turning a profit. Perhaps if more individuals were named, shamed and (where possible) convicted for their mistreatment of people and the environment, then we'd finally get somewhere. Fining companies or eventually putting them out of business long after the fact isn't good enough.
Anyway, with regard to the movie, if it makes you look harder at your food labels and ask more questions about where your food comes from (like it will for me) then that must be a good thing.
