Review of Food, Inc. (2008) by Travis N — 28 Jan 2012
As someone who strongly advocates for the practice of social responsibility, it is my opinion that this is probably the most important documentary you'll ever see. It should be mandatory in the high school curriculum and run in loop on its own channel.
I won't say much because I don't want to ruin the experience of literally being transformed after watching it, but I will say this: every dollar we spend is a vote, and when we give dollars to any corporation we are supporting and approving their business practices.
Of course it's not always easy to know what goes on behind every company and product, but as responsible consumers we need to do our part to research our options and choose intelligently rather than succumbing to our cravings for things that are fast, cheap, and familiar.
Remember, this whole free market thing is a democracy, and if its ever ever going to actually work we all have to do our best to stop voting with our stomachs and start voting with our brains. Educate yourself, be informed, and support the people that operate with fairness, respect, and compassion for nature and their fellow man.
