Review of Food, Inc. (2008) by Kimberly B — 29 Nov 2012
This is an interesting and depressing documentary. I thought it would focus on the health dangers of industrial agriculture, and the film does address these, but it covers a much wider range of sins the agribusiness commits.
I knew most of this already, so I didn't really learn very much new, but it still offers a compelling compilation of evils that I find quite distressing. I think anyone, regardless of political persuasion, would find things to become outraged about in this film, whether or not you care about animal rights, or food safety, or workers' rights, or farmers' rights, or the dangerous and near-total dictatorial control Monsanto exercises over crop production in the U.
S. (and worldwide, too, I assume). The film has a clear position, but I found the presentation of the information quite balanced and sober. Well worth seeing; in fact, this should be mandatory viewing in schools.
(HA! As if that would ever happen).
