Review of Following (1999) by Douglas D — 01 Jul 2010
Its no wonder that Christopher Nolan has risen to the top of the Hollywood hills. 'Following,' his first feature length film, which was clearly shot for a tiny fraction of the films he's currently producing, is a very enjoyable and well paced dark tale that is strengthened by great storytelling that informs the viewer without giving anything away. Its solid on every front, and it will keep surprising you right up to the very end.
If you don't mind a black and white film (especially one that's appropriately without color), then take a chance and watch a first film that's better than many, if not most films. It was the perfect way for me to get even more excited about Nolan's soon to be released 'Inception.'.
