Review of Focus (2015) by Stewart F — 02 Aug 2015
I was expecting so much more from Will Smith's comeback movie. If you look up "MEH" in the dictionary, it would have a movie poster from Focus.
Will Smith is good in the movie doing what he does best, playing the character of Will Smith. What happens when Will Smith becomes a con man? Focus. What happens when aliens attack Will Smith? Independence Day. What happens when aliens come to Earth but don't necessarily attack Will Smith? Men in Black 1,2 & 3. You catch my drift.
Margot Robbie was also OK playing the dual role of token hot chick & apprentice. The acting was fine, unfortunately the plot wasn't.
The plot is borderline asinine with the "twist" at the end that was so silly only a psychic would have known what was going to happen. There are so many good offerings available On Demand and Blu Ray right now, you would be better off watching something else. Honestly, the only reason I can figure to be excited to see this movie is if you are a big Will Smith fan and want to see him acting again.
