Review of Focus (2015) by Wilsonadams — 09 Mar 2015
I'm not sure why this movie had any bad reviews about it at all. Not trying to say it's a masterpiece, but Focus deserves the benefit of the doubt from any avid movie-goers. It was a refreshing take on the crime/romance genre.
A bit of a raunchy, and maybe a tad dry sense of humour certainly helps to appreciate it's funnier moments. The movie doesn't allow you to place your trust in either of the characters, making it a little difficult to relate to them through the bulk of the movie.
But if you hang on, the movie successfully establishes empathy and any hopeless romantics in the audience might even need a tissue. Great date flick, and also great flick to watch with friends. Rare item.
