Review of Focus (2015) by Lamontraymond — 27 Feb 2015
For some reason that I could never figure out, Will Smith has a pained look on his face for most of the movie. It's annoying, and it belies his typical confident self that we all know and love. And why would a movie of this profile ever stage a super bowl with fake teams? Get the licenses, producer! Highly bootleg.
Margot Robbie is great, but she doesn't really extend herself much at all. Not like Annette Bening in The Grifters, or Eileen Brennan in the Sting. And unlike those other movies, Focus lacks "bite".
It's getting a Vanilla Ensure when you were hoping for a rich Haagen Daz chocolate shake.
