Review of Flyboys (2006) by Tim R — 16 Jul 2011
The aerial fight scenes were tremendous. The rest of the movie... not so much. The acting was merely passable (with the exception of Reno, who is almost always very good), the storyline was drawn out and mostly boring - my son had to wake me up at one point as I had dozed off - and the characters were very weakly fleshed out, especially since they were based on real people. The entire love story should have been left on the cutting room floor. Is it worth watching? Yes, but only on a night when you can think of absolutely nothing better to do. Those combat scenes are what save this movie and bring it up to a mediocre level.
