Review of Fly Away Home (1996) by Mariann S — 28 Jul 2008
A sweet and touching family movie, Anna Paquin definitely turned in an amazing performance as a child, now turned adult actress. Jeff Daniels and Dana Delaney also gave power punch performances; the story would be interesting enough as a work of fiction, but the fact that it all really happened makes it even better.
The soundtrack also gets my thumbs up, keeping the wholesome tone of the movie. There are a few weak spots however, especially involving the birds and how they made it a little too slapstick and immature at times.
Other than those few minor scenes, Carole Ballard stuck to the formula in this heartwarming movie!
