Review of Flowers in the Attic (1987) by Nicole I — 17 May 2009
"Though it's been many years since I last saw it, I'll always remember that even my first impression was one of fear and wonder. My childhood was soon to be lost, my innocence shattered, and all our dreams destroyed by what we would find within.".
I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. Mostly because the lot of '80s movies I've seen weren't very good. The overly religious bible-toting (literally) maniacal grandmother was absolutely horrible as was the mother later on in the movie. How people can do those things to children is completely beyond me. And it was all for money... but I digress. Flowers In The Attic had just the right amount of mystery and drama to make for a worthwhile film. The performances were strong by pretty much everyone. I enjoyed the ending a lot ("Eat the cookie!"), heh. But I do recommend this movie as it was quite entertaining.
