Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Christopher W — 16 Aug 2016
A delightful true story about an aging heiress who couldn't sing, but did it anyway. Meryl Streep is a lock for her 20th Oscar nomination. Hugh Grant also shines as her very supportive husband. Simon Helberg is also great as Florence's pianist. The film mixes comedy, drama, and music nicely. The story is actually quite sad and inspiring at the same time. As Streep says in the film: "No one wanted me to sing. But no one wanted me not to sing.".
Grade: A-.
