Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Michael O — 02 Sep 2016
I can only imagine what Simon Cowell would have thought of poor Florence Foster Jenkins. This movie shows the lengths people will go to in order to preserve dignity and loyalty; artistic integrity be damned. On one side, a woman like Ms. Jenkins doesn't deserve to be on stage with her lack of self-awareness; it does a disservice to herself and the art which she claims to love. On the other hand, why shouldn't a person be allowed a chance to live their dream?
The acting in this movie is terrific, with special recognition going to Simon Helberg. I hope he gets a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
