Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Aïko G — 15 Oct 2016
Florence Foster Jenkins is a comedy that succeeds in being funny, but the joke gets old, nearing the end of the movie, which is where the movie focusses more on drama. This movie portrays the life of Florence who is very wealthy and deeply in love with music and singing.
So she also 'sings' herself, but sounds absolutely horrible. On top of all of that, she also carries around a big secret that impacts all the lives around her. The way her husband twist and turns to make her believe she is a fantastic singer, aside from the bad singing and the reactions on that, is one of the funniest things in Florence Foster Jenkins.
But like I mentioned earlier, even though everything is acted very well, the joke begins to wear out near the end of the movie. Therefore the second half of the movie isn't really entertaining.
