Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Nicolette H — 12 Jan 2017
Very close to 4 1/2. Saw this last Friday just before it left the theater I go to & so glad I caught it. How is Meryl Streep so amazing!? Blown away again by her. She is a perfect actress. It was very entertaining to watch her not be perfect & be bad at singing, but even then she was perfect at it.
Her performance is what makes this movie worth watching. It was so touching & I definitely teared up at the end. Won't be surprised if she gets ANOTHER Oscar nom. The story was entertaining, did have some slow parts.
But very cool Bio Pic & crazy that that happened. The rest of the cast was perfect as well. Not surprised by Hugh Grant but was very impressed with Simon Helberg. I could see him maybe getting at least a Golden Globe nom.
Alexandre Desplat's score was beautiful. The sets & costumes were lovely. Overall, very good watch, very close to making it into my top 10 of the year but I do plan on owning this. If you love Meryl Streep, want some laughs with a fun & touching story, definitely check this out.
