Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Brent_Marchant — 27 Aug 2016
The stellar performances of Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg definitely elevate the material of this sometimes-schizophrenic biopic, which has a little trouble striking the right balance between comedy and drama.
The film hits the right notes in its period piece production values and "musical numbers," but the pacing and script never quite even out as effectively as they could. Enjoy this one for the performances but don't be disappointed if it doesn't quite live up to expectations.
