Review of Flirting with Disaster (1996) by Bobby L — 20 May 2010
Hilarious screwball comedy about an adopted man searching for his biological parents; with his wife, social worker, and the ATF in tow, things aren't what they seem to be. Wonderfully zany writing and direction by Russell, another strong point is the film's acting; it almost appears as everyone in the amazing cast is playing against type as far as comedic roles go.
Although most of the film's humor is centered around what seems like arguing for agrgument's sake, it actually works most of the time without seeming forces. My perception is that this film was a lot of scripted improvisation, and if that was the case, then everyone did a damn good job!
