This movie isn't bad or good... just painful. The story just progresses to more outrageous, crazy, and painful situations.
I guess this movie is really funny to an audience because the characters in it are suffering so much and so neurotic. I couldn't really enjoy it because I couldn't stand the people and their environment. I'm assuming it is so over the top that the targeted audience would be laughing hysterically, but I just cringed.
To a small degree, I felt like this in "Meet the Parents". So if you like Meet the Parents, this movie is a more extremely version of it(in terms of sitcom).
