They just don't make films like this anymore. This is a true look on the ups, downs, laughs, tears, and overall experience of being a teenager discovering love. John Mahoney is absolutely fantastic as the grand father, as is Anthony Edwards as the sarcastic father.
The two stars here are the leads, Callan McAuliffe and Madeline Carroll, who give so much depth and heart to their performances. This teen movie may not have vampires or werewolves, but it has soul and heart.
One of the best films of the year.
