Review of Flipped (2010) by Jon S — 27 Nov 2010
Adorable, hilarious, and full of heart warming 'aww' moments. Not the cheesy kind either, this is the kind of story telling that rarely gets done in Hollywood for the obvious reason that it doesn't make the studios money. But that's not the point; the point is that this is a brilliantly made movie, I swear Madeline Carroll is like a young Meryl Streep. Or some other absurdly talented actress when she was really young. She beats Abigail Breslin any day. All she needs is a big movie to star in for the rest of Hollywood to take notice of her.
Okay, so I got off topic, sue me. This is an amazing story about a boy and a girl told by both of them over several years, with the authenticity of the time period it's set in becoming part of the reason the story is so endearing. If this movie had been set in the modern world, it just wouldn't have been as...precious. Some stories are just better told in a different time.
Bottom line; definitely not one to miss. Whether you're a fan of comedy, coming of age tales or love stories, this film has all of them in spades.
