Review of Flipped (2010) by Tayyab R — 20 Aug 2011
The film's biggest strength started becoming the film's biggest weakness - It seek to show both sides (flipped) of the story which was initially very cute and well implemented - but at the latter stages of the feature, became a bit of a damper as it left little for the imagination. However, that moment came at the last 'flip' and was therefore short-lived. The film reminded a lot of the nearly 2 decade old hit TV series Wonder Years while it circled around the same teenage, high-school phenomena of 'acting cool' initially and becoming all brave and unafraid to be laughed at by 'following one's heart'.
With all that said, Flipped deserved the extra credit (half a star, if not full) with the way it was executed - for all its share of same old, same old in terms of the basic plot, I was positively hooked for the better part of the 1 hr 30 minutes run-time.
