Review of Flipped (2010) by Leonardo C — 10 Aug 2012
If a 6/10 is an average movie for me, I might be nice and give this a 6.5, but only because Madeline Carroll is pretty effective as a young teenage girl in love. I don't like movies that are over-nostalgic, and Rob Reiner really went out of his way to make this one so: 50s/60s music making it cutesy in the beginning, soft focus used throughout, etc.
The first 15 minutes or so are almost unbearable. With nothing else to do, I stuck it out. The movie does get better as the kids get a little older and the issues became a little more mature. I did like the gimmick of having the two different points of view, but it's a pretty soft movie and I don't typically like soft.
