Review of Flipped (2010) by Daisy M — 27 Nov 2010
Flipped was definitely a chick flick movie, showing first crush, of two teenagers in the early 60's.The movie was told almost entirely in a voice over of the main character. Told as, he said, she said style, where the same scene was shown twice from the two opposite points of view.
This sort of formula was used many times to show the battle of the sexes. I was glad it did not happen in every scene, otherwise it would get boring. The characters were well developed and the cast was okay but there were some flaws such as funny jokes in not so funny moments and I wondered why Mr.
Reiner set the picture in the past, because I felt it was not necessarily. Rob Reiner is a talented director for romances, he scored with When Harry Met Sally and Stand By Me, he combined these talents to help us understand the human part, such as love, respect and sacrifice.
