Review of Flightplan (2005) by Ryan Gibbons — 31 Jul 2010
Really on the fence with this one. For the most part I thought it was really interesting and entertaining, the acting was pretty good, Jodie Foster is one of the best actresses of our time and Sean Bean is one of the most underrated actors of our time.
James Horner's score actually sets the mood and atmosphere really well. Although at times I thought the film was really trying to hard to be dramatic it was actually pretty intense for a while, it was kind of like an Agatha Christie book or A Hitchcock movie.
But I will say that towards the end of the film, the writers just started to get lazy, there is no reason why they could not have done something else, something original. Flightplan really was not that bad, it might be filled with plot-holes with a lazy ending, but what it is, is a pretty good atmospheric thriller with pretty damn good acting.
