Review of Flightplan (2005) by Matthew L — 29 Aug 2012
Jodie Foster tries in vain to ramp up the hysteria as she searches a plane for the daughter that vanishes mid-flight but this thriller is so preposterous that little can save it. Foster's character is unlikable and her performance lacks depth and soul and the direction makes the whole affair feel unnatural and stagey.
What could have been a taught and exciting story is just ludicrous as the passengers on the aircraft meekly go along with the demands of the stewardesses as they try to placate Foster. Despite having all the potential for a nail-biting exercise in claustrophobia, Flightplan never really takes off and is decidedly mediocre.
