Review of Flightplan (2005) by Gijoe54 — 12 May 2023
Flightplan is a solid suspense-thriller than falters very infrequently with a mostly tight script, good acting, engaging character development, and a very interesting setting for it all to develop in. The sound design is very intense to help put the viewer on edge and the soundtrack helps to set the mood, even if you likely won’t be remembering any particular song from it several minutes after you finish.
The camera work is appropriately claustrophobic for the setting and scenes transition often times with the plane’s layout serving as an intelligent breaking point. The rewatch value is a bit of an oddity because it is worth more than one watch in a row to pick up the missed clues, but probably won’t overall be a frequent grab as many of the tricks it uses are one and done.
Still, this movie is tense and well thought-out barring one major plot hole. I give it a wholehearted recommendation.
