A love letter to Albert Lamorisse's Le Ballon Rouge from Hou Hsiao-hsien, Flight of the Red Balloon is a film of simple pleasures and offers a small peak into the day-to-day routines of a puppeteer (played by the always warm and beautiul Juliette Binoche), her son, and the son's babysitter (the lovely Fang Song).
It's not exciting and not much really happens, but it's the kind of film that if can go with the flow and get lost in it, it passes the time smoothly - something that could be said about alot of Hou's work.
