Review of Flight of the Phoenix (2004) by Brien — 28 Jul 2008
This Flight Of The Phoenix had a lot of potential but it was unfortunate that the writing and direction made it the disappointment it was. The acting was well done for such a bad script, although there were some quite cheesy moments in the more dramatic parts of the film.
The film itself was trying to be more than it actually was with such a short amount of time. Trying to create so much adventure, human growth, and some light comedy is better done in movies with more time, not ninety minutes, but more like one-twenty to one-fifty.
The variety of cast members made it more interesting than expected but just like always you cannot beat the original, especially when it has James Stewart (It?s A Wonderful Life). Overall this film is that it is a good afternoon movie if there is nothing else on, but just if it is already a lazy afternoon, take a nap.
