Review of Flight of the Phoenix (2004) by Brian D — 15 Mar 2009
Yeah "Flight of the Phoenix" is formulaic, but it's well done. There is the usual Hollywood attempt to represent as many different groups as possible within a relatively small cast, and apply stereotypes wherever possible.
Perfect example is Tyrese (who I've never thought could act, anyway). And I'm still deciding if Giovanni Ribisi's character was too overdone. On the bright side, Dennis Quaid can always kick up the level of an entire movie, and several of the supporting characters were thoroughly believable.
The cinematography's excellent. Overall a good movie - worth seeing.
