Review of Flight of the Navigator (1986) by Alan D — 01 Aug 2009
1985 was a remarkable year for cinema. the goonies looked for treasure, the breakfast club bared there souls to each other, and marty mcfly went back to the future. but Michael j fox wasn't the only time traveler that year.
the flight of the navigator may be the weaker time travel movie, but it most certainly did what the 80's did best, and that was make brilliant, original and memorable movies aimed at people under the age of 20 the the cinema.
the cast are good paul Rueben's pretty much rehashes pee wee herman, but it works. the effects are great and stand up well by todays standards. in terms of direction it's a nice looking picture and breaks out of the standard kids movie conventions.
if you're revisiting it or watching for the first time flight of the navigator is yet another 80's classic that will keep the family entertain for 90 minuets.
