Review of Flight of the Navigator (1986) by Anna B — 22 Apr 2011
Flight of the Navigator is a fun live action Disney film. It has an intriguing premise: a boy wakes up and 8 years have passed. Everyone has aged around him and no one knows why or where he has been. Meanwhile, an alien ship crashes into earth.
It has great special effects, a very 80's synth score (very catchy), absorbing themes, and it's quite funny at some parts. It's like if Spielberg made a film for Disney; it references E.T.
, Back to the Future, and The Twilight Zone. Flight of the Navigator is criminally under-seen and has something for everyone.
