'Flight' is only one thing; and that is an incredible character study. Washington's Whip Whitaker is a highly conflicting character for the viewer; clearly troubled yet seemingly remorseless.
The acting quality combined with the crisp film style makes for an entertaining picture, but it's true that the highlight is; the events leading up to the crash in the first twenty minutes.
