Denzel Washington is brilliant as an alcoholic pilot whose remarkable skill as an aviator manages a miraculous crash landing in a doomed aircraft, but who is forced to face his addictions in the wake of the investigation of the crash.
Watching his Herculean struggle to master his addiction and the ways it sabotages his relationships is heartbreaking, knowing a moment of truth is inevitable. And that final moment of truth gives a memorable emotional payoff.
