Review of Flicka (2006) by Ali S — 20 Feb 2008
This film was nothing beyond a bad country song. The girl's just like a mustang and her daddy tries to change her but what he doesn't realize is that he and she are cut from the exact same mold.
It takes a really hot mom, who can't be much older than the daughter, to point this out. The acting is terrible. The story is cliche. And it all plays out with the greatest amount of overdramatic vigour that I've seen in a long time.
There's even a scene with the girl chasing after the horse ever-so dramtically IN THE RAIN. Is it possible to be any cornier? Plus, am I the only one completely creeped out by the sexual tension between the brother and the sister? They keep giving each other loving glances and even flirtingly splash around in the local watering hole fully clothed.
Ew.
