Review of Flicka (2006) by James H — 23 Oct 2009
I found this to be a really beautiful film. The locations were fantastic. Some of them looked gorgeous. The acting was great. Alison Lohman did a terrific job as Katy. Some of the horse scenes, epescially the chasing, was shot very well.
The characters are all interesting, each with a sweet side that you can easily take a liking to. The coming-of-age theme is used very well with the character Katy, and a lot of the other characters, including the wild mustang Flicka.
The other thing I loved about this was the family struggling with their money. I thought they handled this type of theme really well with the storytelling and characters. This isn't just a cliche' "horsey" film for little girls, it's something that everyone will enjoy, even the boys.
I'd even call it a great family film. It's beautiful.
