Review of Fletch Lives (1989) by Eric E — 23 May 2009
I love Chevy Chase as Fletch. His voice overs and quips are brilliant. I can't help watching these movies whenever they are on TV. I'd love to see Zach Braff reprise the role as I think he would be perfect as a modern replacement for Chase.
The movie itself is silly in places and plotwise obvious as hell, but I just can't help watching for the daft jokes (the raccoon joke is funny but so close to the bone it'd never be done now) and to see what Chase comes up with next.
His disguises are so ridiculous, they verge on Superman becoming Clark Kent just by adding glasses and no one recognises him stupid at times. The film is all the funnier for it though. Shame there weren't anymore, personally I love the first movie much more than this sequel but I'd recommend them both for some daft entertainment and throw back to the 80's when Chevy Chase was great.
