Lifeless comedy-mystery is dull, predictable, and worst of all, just not funny. Chevy Chase is strangely limp as the wisecracking reporter - and few of his wisecracks are as sharp or clever as you'd expect.
A talented supporting cast is wasted in cliched roles. Very disappointing, considering its reputation as a modern comedy classic.
